It has all come down to the final weekend of league play to determine anything in the ECAC. This season has certainly been down to the wire and some games this weekend will be hard fought in order to determine final seeding.
Look for another update on Saturday afternoon to see what the final night will look like.
Cleary Cup– Who is going to get it? Union will travel to face Cornell on Friday. The game could be a deciding factor on who will win the ECAC regular season title, otherwise known as the Cleary Cup. Union currently has a two point advantage in the league standings, but a loss to the Big Red could prove interesting with each team having one game remaining on Saturday.
Who will earn the byes? – Currently only Union and Cornell are safe in the first round of the playoffs. Colgate, Clarkson, Harvard, and Quinnipiac are the most realistic teams to earn the final two first round byes.
Clarkson will be meeting Harvard on Saturday night in a game that could prove very meaningful depending on results from Friday’s games.
Realistically Colgate will just need to win one game this weekend to earn a bye, but with Union and a tricky RPI team coming to town it may not be so easy.
Quinnipiac will need to win out the weekend and look for other results to get its way. That may prove to be a little to unrealistic, but it is still possible.
Where are they going next week?- Dartmouth , St. Lawrence, and Yale are both going to want to move up the standings in the final weekend, as all three teams are on the cusp of having home ice for the first round of the playoffs. Saturday night’s matchup between both Dartmouth and St. Lawrence will be interesting. The Big Green arguably has the most at stake between all three teams, as they are two points behind both St. Lawrence and Yale.
