Who makes it to Atlantic City?

This weekend is Quarterfinal weekend in the ECAC and the big question is who will end up in the Final Four. Last weekend’s ECAC first round was fully entertaining, with three of the opening round matchup’s going a full three games.

Here is what to expect in the second round.

No. 10 @ No. 1 Union-  RPI may have looked like this year’s Cinderella story, but Union seems to be unstoppable, at least on home ice against a team like the Engineers. I only seem this series going two games and both will be easy wins for the Dutchman.

Winner:Union in two games.

No. 9 @ No. 2 Cornell- Cornell has a great group of experienced players this season and that may prove too much for Dartmouth to deal with. Jody O’Neil may be the hot goalie for the Big Green, but I only see him winning one game this weekend.  With the adversity Dartmouth has faced this year, making it this far has exceeded expectation ahead of the playoffs.

Winner: Cornell in three games.

No. 6 Yale @ No. 3 Harvard- This should be quite the entertaining series between two good teams. Yale is in a bit of an unexpected place, as they are on the road during the playoffs. Likewise Harvard has home ice this season after being on the road last season. I see this series going the distance, but the Crimson get the slight advantage.

Winner- Harvard in three games.

No. 5 Quinnipiac @ No. 4 Colgate- The Bobcats might be in luck this weekend, as they are facing a Colgate team that struggled to put together results towards the end of the regular season. Colgate may have needed they bye week that they barely earned, as they could have some fresh legs for the weekend. To be honest this series could go either way, but for the sake of picking I am going to go with Quinnipiac.

winner- Quinnipiac in three games.
