Hey. I thought this was supposed to be an exhibition!
Posted by: ronFor those that watched their teams hit the ice for the first time last weekend, some of you might have forgotten that while it’s an exhibition for our college squads, it’s the big game for other teams.
In the opening game of the season, the U-18 team pounced all over Alaska in the first period, building a 5-0 lead and holding on for a 5-3 victory, probably to the delight of most in Anchorage with the exception of those who traveled down the Richardson.
In Denver’s opening game, the Calgary Dinos held a 2-0 lead through the first half of the game until the Pioneers stormed back and scored six consecutive goals in a 6-3 win. The following night, Calgary took it to Colorado College and skated away with a 4-2 win. Ferris State needed overtime to escape Western Ontario 6-5.
Bottom line, these teams will come in hungry and play hard. Essentially many of these teams are playing at the same level as many teams in Atlantic Hockey and the CHA. Sure it’s exhibition season, and some of these teams have been playing together for much longer than our squads, but over the years it’s obvious that Canadian and developmental teams are only becoming tougher challenges.
On the Women’s side, the signs of parity continue to show as teams like RPI, Robert Morris and Niagara put together spirited games against traditionally tougher competition. The big shocker was Minnesota losing an exhibition to the Minnesota Whitecaps 4-2, but again it was an exhibition. The fans can save the worrying for the regular season.

First of all anybody who knows anything, knows that if you are going to drive from squarebanks to Anchorage then you take the parks which saves you hours and new shocks for you car (frost heaves are horrible, but on the parks watch around Healy!!!). Secondly UAA/U-18 game did look like an exhibition as the Seawolves SMOKED!!!!!!!!! the US team 9-2 and it should have been a 10-2 game as a very clearly quick whistle was blown as the puck was thrown in the back of the net. Nobody wants to talk about the great game in Anchorage!!! Talk about the nookies losing but the big win by the Wolves no we won’t mention that!!!! BIASED MEDIA EVERYWHERE!!!!!!!! How much are they paying you because God knows that is the only reason that someone might actually like to talk about that team.

On my last (and only) trip to Alaska I was not fortunate enough to get to drive through the parks. We went from Fairbanks to Valdez instead which was spectacular.
Nothing! They pay me nothing! I was just looking out for the rest of the nation that was pinning their hopes and dreams on these youngsters until the Seawolves shattered them. That’s all

Alright you can have a pass this time!!! Just get a little fired up because no one outside of Anchorage has anything to say about UAA unless its taking cheap shots. We have a team that is very happy about playing this year. A coach that is not new this year (two new assistants). If people look at the team they keep trying to make a big deal about the transfers, but the players are not concerned the way they view it is that the players that want to be here are here and if there were players that didn’t they are gone WHICH IS GOOD!!! Plus what has been widely regarded as the best recruiting class in our program’s history. But back to the point you are forgiven, I was a little to angry at the time I wrote the last one.
